The Christmas Star
By Simon Stranger. Illustrations Shwan Dler Qaradaki
A girl without a mom. A boy without a homeland. And a big secret they can’t share with anyone.
Their lives couldn’t be more different. Stella, eleven years old, lives with her dad who works as a police officer, and her mom has recently died. Yousef is a seventeen year old refugee from Palestine on the run, who got a refusal for his application for residence permit. When Stella and Yousef meet in a barn one freezing day in December their destiny intertwine under the starry night.
The Christmas Star is a moving story of enigmas, fleeing, and homelessness, but also about friendship and belonging, and that Advent is a magical time of the year.
